Learn Tips about Showing from the Top Trainers
by Ann de Toth

Most of us who have competed in Obedience know how the surge of adrenalin affects our bodies, our minds – and our dogs!  One of the best ways to counteract the condition, once we have carefully trained our partners, is to watch other teams in the ring very carefully and see how their body language impacts their performance, for good or for ill.  This helps us to identify the mistakes we may be making once we step into the ring.  And it is a great idea for Novice competitors to see where they may be heading in the future, through Open into Utility.  And we will be needing Utility dogs for next year’s Top Dog competition!

So those of you who are not on our Top Dog team this year, but who are interested in improving their ring performance, should seriously consider coming out to Bloomington this Saturday, not just to support our team, but also to study the great performances put on by other teams because we can all learn from the best.  And if you cannot make it on Saturday – or don’t get to read this issue of the Post before November 14th – there is another local event offering outstanding performances, the AKC Eukanuba Invitational at Long Beach on December 12th/13th.  Why not get together and carpool down, and have a great time – it’s the AKC’s 125th anniversary and maybe there will be cake….!

See you around.
