Member Activites and Special Events

Obedience, Rally, Tracking Trials - In early May we hold our annual AKC Obedience and Rally trials.  This is a great opportunity to show your dog,  meet members and help out.  At the beginning of the year we hold a Tracking Trial in Riverside.

Meetings and Field Trips - Often meetings are held at different venues so we can enjoy outings with our friends and our dogs.  We have visited the beach, parks, gone on hikes, arranged training sessions with horses. We have invited guest speakers to teach us more about specialized training, how to teach tricks and met trained working police dogs and their handlers.  If you have a suggestion for a meeting, please let us know.

Therapy Dogs - Many members have passed tests qualifying their dogs to work as therapy dogs.  We have
our own team of dogs that visit  nursing homes, hospitals and are available to visit other places, as asked.

Membership - If you are interested in joining HDOC we recommend you attend a meeting or two to learn more about the club and meet members. Meetings are held on the fourth Thursday of the month, although these may change dates due to conflicts or special meetings.  You can ask for a complimentary copy of the club’s newsletter.

The Canine Post to learn more about members and the club.  Dog owners of any breed, including All Americans (mixed breeding), are welcome to join.  Members are encouraged to participate and help at club events.

Ask for the current annual membership dues.  A prospective member must attend at least one meeting before joining.  Ask any board member for an application.  Members receive a discount when paying for training classes.
